“Hot in the Heart, Cool in the Head” by Coach Luis.
This quote means that if you are angry it should be stored in your heart and not in your head because you control everything in your head and if there is anger in your head you do unintentional actions, which can put you in trouble.
This was said during a football meeting about consequences in football. Coach Luis was speaking to us, Under 13, Under 15 and Under 18, about the consequences of getting sent off the field for whatever reason. He explained the new rules of getting sent off and from my view the consequences were very professional and severe. He mentioned that the coaches and himself will decide how bad the punishment should be depending on how bad the player got sent off for. I was extremely scared of being sent off now. I took in his information, after a while of him lecturing about the various punishments he then talked about reacting to bad fouls that come upon a player. He explained, that when you are fouled badly you should never react. However, he said that if the player reacts (like hitting, swearing) negatively, the player would receive an even worse punishment than the player who fouled you. Then he said, “A good player is a player who is Hot in the Heart, Cool in the Head”. When he said this, I thought that it was an incredible piece in speech. This struck me that even though this quote relates to football it also relates to other aspects of life.
